2015 Gerald Strauss Prize for Geert Janssen

The Dutch Revolt and Catholic Exile in Reformation Europe (CUP, 2014) has been awarded the 2015 Gerald Strauss Prize for the best book in Reformation History. The award was presented at the annual conference of the Sixteenth Century Society in Vancouver, BC on 23 October.

From the prize committee’s report: ‘Geert Janssen’s work deeply impressed the committee. It incorporates a fine balance of original research on published and unpublished sources along with a remarkably broad and thorough engagement of recent scholarship. […] His multi-confessional and transnational approach was equally compelling. […] In short, this was a powerfully illuminating work which makes a great contribution to studies of the Reformation.
