About the Authors
  • Originally published in 1918, this book contains a selection of 32 papers on social and economic questions by the British engineer and shipbuilder Sir Benjamin Chapman Browne (1839–1917). The papers are presented in chronological order, covering the period 1886 to 1917, and a wide variety of issues are discussed, ranging from industrial relations and workers' rights to the status of the House of Lords. An introductory biography of Browne is also included, together with a short bibliography at the end of the text. This is a highly informative book that will be of value to anyone with an interest in the writings of Browne and British socio-economic history.
