  • Originally published in 1949, this volume was created in honour of Professor R. L. Graeme Ritchie's retirement, following 26 years as the Chair of French Language and Literature in the University of Birmingham. It is composed of 23 essays on a variety of topics contributed by colleagues and fellow-workers in the field of French studies. A list of publications by Ritchie is included at the beginning of the text. This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in perspectives on French culture and society.
